Dr. Geitmann gives a Public Lecture at McMaster University to highlight the UNESCO International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies. This lecture takes the audience from the early beginnings of light microscopy to the revolutionary developments in the life sciences acknowledged by recent Nobel Prizes. Treating one pollen tube at a time to understand directional growth, invasive growth, and response to chemical gradients, is now possible using the TipChip, a microfluidic and MEMS-based experimental platform for tip growing cells.
